Descripción del juego

England, 1459. The son of the great Henry V has tragically not lived to inherit his father's throne. After England's defeat in the Hundred Years War, powerful lords gather vast lands and wealth, rivaling even the King's own. Henry IV's legacy left the throne open for any ambitious lord with a strong lineage to lay claim, and the most promising contender is Richard Plantagenet, the Duke of York.

The mounting tension surrounding the Crown leads to armed clashes, disguised as attempts to free the king from his malevolent advisors, and eventually sparks the Wars of the Roses, which William Shakespeare would immortalize in his plays:

    - A successful Yorkist rebellion that places Edward IV on the throne, forcing the Lancastrians into exile in Scotland and France.
    - A civil war where Warwick the Kingmaker and King Edward's brother Clarence confront the King and his other brother Richard Gloucester.
    - A brief restoration of Henry VI, followed by an invasion from France led by his son and wife, leading to a final showdown between Richard III and Henry Tudor (later known as Henry VII) at the Battle of Bosworth, which ultimately marks the end of the Plantagenet dynasty.

Treason, bravery, political maneuvers, and a cast of unforgettable characters define one of the most tumultuous and divided periods in English history.

In Plantagenet, the latest addition to Volko Ruhnke's Levy & Campaign Series, players take the lead of one of two factions throughout three main periods of war, engaging in individual scenarios or the entire Wars of the Roses campaign.

Designer Francisco Gradaille introduces an overarching and local political influence element to Volko's medieval operation system, reflecting the ever-shifting loyalties of the era while maintaining a familiar gameplay experience for Series fans. Players will establish and manage a network of allied lords and nobles to secure the necessary provisions and coinage for supplying and paying their armies. As ravaging and looting will tarnish each faction's reputation, both sides will strive to persuade cities to join their cause. Epic battles will determine the fate of enemy lords, and perhaps even the king. There are two types of operational moves at play: military and political.

Ultimately, when the dust settles and all arrows have been fired, one rose will emerge on the throne. White or Red, York or Lancaster, gather your troops and banners and join the fray.
