"Battles in the East #1: Sandomierz Offensive and Bagration Stopped, 1944". These two significant battles took place along the Vistula River during World War II, as the Soviets aimed to establish bridgeheads in the region. The First Ukrainian Front, having recently captured Lvov (Lemberg), initiated a series of offensives, with the Sandomierz Offensive being a standout. This offensive led to the creation of a substantial bridgehead. In response, the Germans launched counterattacks involving two Panzerkorps. Notably, this battle featured intense clashes between German King Tigers and the Soviet's largest tanks, the JS-2.
The second battle occurred near Warsaw, where Soviet forces secured small footholds on the Vistula's opposite bank and advanced northward toward the Narew River. Their objective was to encircle German forces and sever rail lines.
The game components include a double-sided full-size mounted game board, 440 large counters, a 16-page series rules booklet, scenario-specific and exclusive rules sheets and displays, as well as full-color set-up charts for each scenario. Additionally, there are series charts and tables available for each player to enhance gameplay and strategy.
